General objectives of DREAM

  • Create gubernatorial mechanisms for Ethiopians abroad and in the homeland that enriches sense of a unified world community as well as Ethiopian values [99]
  • Enable Ethiopians and Ethiopian descendants abroad to have a positive relationship among themselves in order to invest their minds and resources in Ethiopian political and economic progress [100].
  • Design and promote appropriate technology transfer strategies and projects that will improve the conditions of the homeland and its people, reverse the trend of Ethiopian image and Ethiopian migration in the long run[101].
  • Enable Ethiopians in the Diaspora to have a say and stake , instead of being bystanders of unchecked economic developmental changes in our homeland [102]
  • To organize Ethiopian communities in Diaspora for sharing their rich and diverse developmental experience to individuals and business groups and institutions in the homeland through education , research and applications[103.]
  • Create an atmosphere of understanding and reciprocity between the government of Ethiopia and those Ethiopians , Ethiopians descendants living abroad on the social , economic and political developments of their home land[104]
  • Identify the short term and long term needs and aspirations of Ethiopians abroad and at home through establishing and strengthening American based Ethiopian organizations(ABEOs) such as credit unions , endowment funds , investment and holdings, asset development and voluntary services that work to solve the local needs within their communities[105]
